501(c)ollege Certificate Programs The Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence and the School of Business at Christian Brothers University will jointly issue a certificate of completion for the following three 501(c)ollege Certificate Programs. Individuals who complete at least 100 hours of training in a certificate program or through individual workshops are eligible to apply for graduate credit toward their Masters in Business Administration at CBU. Certificate in Frameworks of Nonprofit Excellence This one-year certificate program offers nonprofit organizations a comprehensive course of study on the key concepts of nonprofit management, including new research and best practices on running a high impact organization. Organizations registering for this certificate program are encouraged to bring up to two people to each session. Core courses include: Fundamentals of Planning and Evaluation Fundamentals of Board Governance Fundamentals of Fund Development Fundamentals of Human Resources Fundamentals of Nonprofit Finance Fundamentals of Strategic Communications: Making the Message Work Organizations also have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in various areas of nonprofit management by selectign two electives courses within the following core areas of management (Alliance staff will consult with organizations in making these selections): board governance, finance, fund development, human resources, organizational leadership, plannning and evaluation, and strategic communications. Certificate in Finance
The Certificate in Finance will be awarded to individuals who complete five courses in this core area. This program provides participants with an understanding of the principal concepts of nonprofit finance. To qualify for the certificate of completion, individuals must take three required courses and select two elective half-day courses. Courses within the core area of finance include: Fundamentals of Nonprofit Finance or Intermediate Nonprofit Finance -depending upon participants level of knowledge (Required) Electives: Understanding Nonprofit Accounting Best Practices in Internal Controls Understanding the 990 Tax Return If you choose to take webinars in place of classroom instruction, you must take all three of the following session: Are we sinking? To qualify for the certificate, individuals must take two required courses and three other elective courses.
